The Denver Nuggets defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 132-126 in Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals on Wednesday night. Nikola Jokic led the way for the Nuggets with 37 points, 15 rebounds and 6 assists. Jamal Murray added 24 points and Aaron Gordon chipped in with 22 points. Anthony Davis led the way for the Lakers with 28 points and 12 rebounds. LeBron James added 22 points, 8 assists and 6 rebounds. The Nuggets took control of the game in the third quarter, outscoring the Lakers 38-22. Jokic was dominant in the period, scoring 15 points and grabbing 7 rebounds. The Lakers rallied in the fourth quarter, but they couldn't overcome the Nuggets' lead. James hit a three-pointer to cut the lead to 125-122 with 1:36 remaining, but Jokic answered with a layup to seal the win. The Nuggets now have a 1-0 lead in the series. Game 2 is scheduled for Friday night in Denver.The Lakers entered the contest with a 6-0 record at home during the postseason while the Nuggets had stolen road wins in Game 1 of each of their previous two series.
