Synopsis
Blue Beetle is an upcoming American superhero film based on the DC Comics character Jaime Reyes/Blue Beetle. Produced by DC Studios and the Safran Company, the film marks the character's first appearance on the big screen.The film follows the story of Jaime Reyes, an ordinary teenager from El Paso, Texas. When an alien scarab attaches itself to his spine, Jaime gains extraordinary powers and becomes the Blue Beetle. Now, he must learn to harness his newfound abilities and use them to protect his community while facing challenges from both outside and within.

Blue Beetle stars Xolo Maridueña as Jaime Reyes/Blue Beetle, Bruna Marquezine as Penny, Becky G as Traci Thirteen, and Damián Alcázar as Uncle Alberto. The film is directed by Angel Manuel Soto and written by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer.

Blue Beetle is scheduled to be released in theaters on August 18, 2023, by Warner Bros. Pictures.
About Jaime Reyes/Blue Beetle
Jaime Reyes is the third character to take on the mantle of Blue Beetle in DC Comics. Unlike his predecessors, Jaime is not of Mexican descent but is instead a Mexican-American teenager. He gained his powers from an alien scarab that grants him a suit of armor with various abilities, including super strength, flight, and energy manipulation.
